A 33-year-old man, Nathan Frost, has been charged with throwing 11 electric scooters into Idaho’s Snake River. The Idaho Falls resident faces charges of felony malicious injury to property and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers.
The incident occurred on July 14, when Idaho Falls police were dispatched to John’s Hole Forebay at 950 River Parkway after receiving reports of a man throwing Bird-brand electric scooters into the river. Witnesses identified the man as Nathan Frost, who was seen wearing a blue-gray shirt and gray shorts while riding a one-wheel motorized scooter along the Idaho Falls Greenbelt Riverwalk.
Upon receiving the report, officers immediately began searching the area. Frost was eventually spotted near the Residence Inn, heading south along the greenbelt. Despite an officer signaling for him to stop by turning on her emergency lights, Frost continued riding along a canal bank, ignoring the police’s commands.
The situation escalated when an officer yelled at Frost from the south side of Guns and Gear to halt, but he refused to comply. As a result, the police set up a perimeter to contain him. Frost was ultimately apprehended near 1350 Whitewater Drive after abandoning his one-wheel scooter and attempting to flee on foot.
