A tragic discovery unfolded on Monday afternoon in Idaho Falls as a body was found floating in the Snake River near the Broadway bridge. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report shortly after 1 p.m., alerting them to the grim sight.
Emergency responders quickly located the body caught amidst debris near the Idaho Falls Power plant. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead upon retrieval from the water upstream.
Todd Kunz, a local news anchor, spoke with eyewitness Michael DuMont, who recounted his unsettling experience of spotting the body before authorities were alerted. “Around 12:50 p.m., I noticed what appeared to be a garbage bag floating down the river while I was under the pavilion.
I moved closer for a better look, accompanied by a couple standing nearby. Suddenly, emergency services swarmed the area, and the woman even took photographs of the body in the water,” DuMont described.
