Boise Man Cited for Groping Woman on Greenbelt; Arrested for Parole Violation in Swift Police Action

A 50-year-old man, identified as Aaron Brown, has been cited for misdemeanor sexual battery following a disturbing incident on the Boise Greenbelt. The incident occurred on July 18, 2024, and has drawn significant attention from both local law enforcement and the community.

According to the Boise Police Department (BPD), the assault took place around 10:17 a.m. under the Capitol Village Bridge. Brown, who was riding a bicycle at the time, approached a woman walking along the Greenbelt and groped her. This unexpected and distressing encounter left the woman shaken and prompted immediate action from the police.

The BPD swiftly launched an investigation into the incident, leveraging information provided by witnesses and community members. The Boise State University Department of Public Safety, which also played a role in the response, issued a statement acknowledging the suspect’s rapid identification and arrest.

“Following yesterday’s sexual battery incident on the Boise Greenbelt, the Boise Police Department swiftly identified a suspect,” the statement said. “The suspect was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail. Thanks for the cooperation of the Boise State community, along with the wider Boise area community, who provided valuable information through call.”

In addition to being cited for sexual battery, Brown faced a separate legal issue. On July 19, he was arrested on a warrant related to a parole violation. This development added another layer of complexity to the case, as Brown’s legal troubles extended beyond the recent assault.

The Boise Police Department’s quick action and the community’s involvement were crucial in resolving the case. The department continues to emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to maintain safety in public spaces.

The Boise Greenbelt, a popular recreational area known for its scenic views and pedestrian-friendly pathways, has been a site of both enjoyment and, unfortunately, occasional crime. The recent incident has highlighted the ongoing need for community engagement and law enforcement presence to ensure public safety.
