Surveillance video has captured two unknown suspects pushing a laundry cart containing dismembered body parts to a Bronx train station. This eerie footage emerged just hours before the remains were set ablaze and disposed of in Yonkers, as reported by police and law enforcement sources.
The disturbing incident began around 2 a.m. on Monday when firefighters discovered a cart engulfed in flames near the Oak Street Bridge in Yonkers, close to the Mount Vernon border. Nearby, they found a lifeless body lying on the sidewalk, prompting local authorities to launch an investigation into the grim circumstances of the murder.
According to investigators, the two suspects transported the remains from the Bronx via a Metro-North train. They disembarked at the Mount Vernon West station in Westchester County, as indicated by multiple sources.
Later that day, police searched an apartment located on Rogers Place, near East 163rd Street, at around 11:30 p.m. During their search, they uncovered severed hands submerged in a crockpot filled with bleach, along with additional body parts found in a freezer, including at least one leg.
The surveillance footage captured from a deli on the ground floor of the building shows the two unidentified figures hastily pushing the cart toward the train station, their movements alarming to any onlooker. Other surveillance images also reveal the cart being moved along the sidewalk, heightening the sense of urgency surrounding the situation.
An 18-year-old resident of the building recalled hearing the cart being taken out late Sunday into early Monday morning. “I heard a very angry man carrying something heavy down the stairs,” she explained. “It sounded like a cart with laundry, but it felt much heavier.”
The frightened tenant noted that she was terrified by the commotion. “There was a voice that sounded like someone was upset. I was really scared,” she said. “It was exactly 12 o’clock on Sunday, maybe a minute or two after. I know because I was about to go to the deli, but my mom said, ‘No, it’s 12 o’clock. It’s too dangerous.’”
As of now, the victim has not been publicly identified, leaving the community in a state of anxiety and confusion. Neighbors described the tenant who lived in the apartment where the remains were discovered as a long-time resident who often had roommates. “Yes, we know him,” a local woman shared. “I see him smoking on the front steps all the time. He is nice; he always says, ‘Hi.’”
Residents expressed their shock at the gruesome discovery. “I liked this place because it was always quiet, and there are cameras everywhere,” one neighbor added. “And no one can get inside without a key. Yesterday, when we heard about this, I was just stunned. We’re a little scared now.”
The Yonkers police have passed the investigation to the NYPD, which has identified at least one person of interest in this morbid murder case. However, no charges have been filed yet, according to sources familiar with the ongoing investigation.
