DALLAS: In the meantimeFollowing a tragic shooting at a CVS where a security guard was slain, the Dallas police chief will hold a community gathering in downtown Dallas.
Two minors are being held in connection with the late-night shooting on Friday.
According to the security guard’s wife, he was killed while performing his duties as a provider.
We know:
Anthony Egeonu, a security officer for the CVS Pharmacy on Main Street, was shot Friday at approximately 11 p.m., according to Dallas police.
Due to their age, the names of the two minors who are in detention are not being made public.
His family thinks he might have approached them before being shot, but police have not provided any information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
What they’re saying:
Octavia Egeonu reports that she hurried to assist her husband, Anthony, after receiving a call shortly after midnight on Saturday.
“His supervisor informed me that Anthony had been shot and that he was in the hospital,” she said.
At the hospital, the 39-year-old security guard passed away.
“This is never an easy way to say this,” he remarked. “I apologize,” he replied, recalling his wife. “Any time he works around or sees teenagers, he tries to connect with them, tries to get them to do the right thing.”
His family said they understand that he was simply carrying out his duties on Friday night.
According to Jermain Pipkins, there are no words to describe the anguish of losing his cousin.

“It s just a pain and a deep void that will never go away,” stated the man.
Anthony leaves behind a son, two daughters, and his wife.
His wife claims that she misses the small things the most. He will be remembered as a guardian, a caregiver, and an all-around wonderful man, she said.
Octavia remarked, “Anthony had a big heart,” “Anyone may get support from him. When you call him, he will arrive.
Pipkins remarked, “He was a great man that lived life to the fullest,” “And it s just sad that that was taken away.”
