Boise Food Pantry Receives Over $10,000 and 200 Pounds of Food After Community Plea

The St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in Boise recently faced a dire situation as their food supplies ran dangerously low. Following an urgent plea for help published by the Idaho Statesman on Friday, the community responded with remarkable generosity. Over $10,000 and 200 pounds of food were donated in a matter of days, but the pantry still needs more support.

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from our community,” said Mareesa Rule, the Development Director, during a phone call on Monday. Rule explained that these donations are critical in the fight against hunger and poverty, providing immediate relief for those in need.

The St. Vincent de Paul pantry’s food shortage stems from a decrease in supplies from their usual community partners. This shortage has put a strain on the pantry’s ability to serve residents who depend on this resource to stay afloat.

“There are members of our community who visit our food pantry so they can remain housed, pay their rent, and cover their utilities,” Rule emphasized. “This need is something we ask everyone to keep in their hearts and minds as we move through summer into fall and winter.”

The call for continued support is urgent. Rule highlighted the ongoing need for donations and volunteers to ensure the pantry can continue its crucial work.
