DallasEarly on Monday morning, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was hit while responding to a collision on a highway in far North Dallas.

Just after 12:40 a.m., Trooper Austin Parrott was assisting with a single-car collision in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway close to Keller Springs Road. At the time, the roads were moist.

Early on Monday morning, a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper was hit while responding to a collision on a Dallas freeway in far North Dallas. The status of the trooper is critical.

The trooper and a private security guard who had stopped to help the trooper at the scene of the first accident were hurt when the driver of a Mini Cooper crashed into the scene.

In critical condition, the trooper was transported to Plano Presbyterian Hospital.

Parrott sustained a severe head injury, according to DPS Sgt. Josue de la Cerda. Although he is now stable, he is still in the intensive care unit.

Though not gravely hurt, the private security guard was also struck.

Talha Noaman, 20, was identified as the Mini Cooper’s driver.

After receiving minor medical attention at the hospital, Noaman was taken into custody for possessing a restricted substance.

The Collin County jail is where he is being kept.
