On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) successfully apprehended a suspect wanted for attempted homicide in Utah. The arrest occurred on Huffine Lane, located between Bozeman and Four Corners.
According to MHP, the incident began when dispatch received a “be-on-the-lookout” (BOLO) report from Idaho around 10:30 a.m. This alert was for a suspect who was believed to be armed and was wanted in connection with an attempted homicide case in Summit County, Utah.
A short while later, around 11:15 a.m., MHP troopers spotted the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 191, just outside Four Corners. The driver initially complied and pulled over on Huffine Lane when troopers attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver soon sped away towards Bozeman, leading to a high-speed chase.
During the pursuit, MHP troopers used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to force the suspect’s vehicle to a stop. The PIT maneuver, a driving technique used to end pursuits safely, brought the chase to a halt. The suspect was taken into custody without any further incident.
