New Mexican Restaurant Set to Replace Senor Fresh in West Boise After 29 Years

When Senor Fresh, a beloved quick-service restaurant in West Boise, closed its doors last spring after 29 years, it marked the end of an era for locals who had savored its health-conscious Mexican cuisine for decades.

However, the closure didn’t leave the space empty for long. Thanks to Felix and Leah Venegas, recent transplants to Idaho from Kalispell, Montana, a new dining experience is set to grace 12375 W. Chinden Blvd. Enter Tesoro’s Tortas and Tacos, a venture fueled by the Venegas’ passion for authentic Mexican flavors.

The tentative opening date for Tesoro’s is September 9, though Leah Venegas emphasized that this date is subject to change as they finalize preparations. The menu promises a variety of delights centered around tortas — Mexican sandwiches that are a specialty — and tacos. Alongside these staples, customers can indulge in build-your-own burritos and a selection of other Mexican favorites.

“We’ll be offering homemade al pastor, carnitas, carne asada, barbacoa beef, and several other meat options,” Leah Venegas shared excitedly. Felix Venegas brings over 15 years of industry experience to this new venture, making Tesoro’s first restaurant endeavor in the Boise area. The couple’s dedication to quality and authenticity is evident in their commitment to preparing many menu items in-house.

Operating hours are slated from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, providing ample opportunities for patrons to enjoy a meal at their convenience. For added convenience, El Tesoro’s will also feature a user-friendly website offering online ordering for both pickup and delivery services.
