Woman rescued after hours trapped in elevator on 45th floor in Downtown Dallas

Dallas’s downtownAfter leaving a restaurant on Wednesday night, a woman found herself stuck in an elevator on the 45th level of a building in Downtown Dallas for many hours.

Just before 6:30 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue received calls regarding someone trapped in an elevator and arrived to 1401 Elm Street.

A pulley mechanism was used to free the woman after she had been stuck for over two hours.

After being taken from the elevator shaft, she was examined by medical professionals, who determined that she was unharmed.

A service elevator was briefly used by other patrons who were departing the restaurant.

How the woman was rescued:

At first, an elevator technician attempted, but failed, to fix the elevator and liberate the woman. The Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) crew from Dallas Fire-Rescue was called in to help.

To put up an anchor for a pulley system, a rescuer was placed onto the elevator roof from the 49th floor.

Both the woman and the savior were hauled back up to the restaurant floor, where the woman had gone into the elevator, using the pulley system.
