Jimmy Lee Hanks was taken into custody by deputies on Sunday night, according to the Rains County Sheriff’s Office.
He was charged with ongoing child sexual abuse and put into the Rains County jail.
The Wills Point Independent School District verified Hanks’ status as a former Wills Point High School teacher in a letter to parents.
The alleged behavior did not take place in school, according to Wills Point ISD.
“This office places the highest priority on transparency and student safety. The district declared, “We will keep working to make all WPISD stakeholders in Wills Point proud.”
Wills Point Hanks was hired as a teacher in 2023, according to ISD. He no longer works for the company.
