Widow of slain Lewisville pawn shop owner finds closure after murder conviction

Texas’s LewisvilleOne of the men accused for her husband’s murder was found guilty and will never be released from prison, nearly two years after he was killed at the pawn store he operated in Lewisville.

One of three men was found guilty by a Denton County jury last Friday of killing Daniel White, the owner of a pawn store in Lewisville.

Daniel White’s widow found the trial difficult to watch, particularly when the courtroom heard the 911 call.

After her husband was shot in the chest, Yolanda White found out that he was able to provide a description of the suspect. Investigators said prosecutors used that description to support their case.

According to Yolanda, “He took the best thing away from me,” to FOX 4. “He stole my dad’s son away. My spouse. I informed him that he had broken both my heart and my soul.

Yolanda’s husband’s ashes are buried next to her heart. When she addressed Daniel’s killer face-to-face in court last week, the priceless piece of jewelry was on her neck.

She told the murderer, “I hope my words reverberate in your mind for the rest of your life.”

JaTevon Johnson is thought to be one of three suspects who tried to rob the Lewisville Pawn Shop on Mill Street early on February 14, according to Lewisville police.

Jatevon Johnson, 19, will be imprisoned for the rest of his life without the chance of release. He was convicted of capital murder for the murder of Daniel by a Denton County jury last Friday.

Daniel was shot in the chest on Valentine’s Day 2023 when he was opening the store and Johnson and two other people tried to loot it.

Prosecutors said Johnson pulled the trigger throughout the trial.

Damonta and Denyrion Skinner, brothers, were also taken into custody and accused of capital murder. They are both awaiting trial.

Yolanda’s greatest concern was confronting Johnson.

“I’m over it. I’m no longer worried. “I think I can go forward,” she remarked.

Managing the pawn shop her husband dedicated his life to is the next step. Yolanda now believes it is her calling.

“If Daniel would have survived, he is the type of man who would ve forgiven him,” she stated. “I am not even close to that. Despite how strong my faith is, I am unable to accomplish it at this time.

The Skinner brothers still have the option of accepting plea agreements or going to trial, according to the Denton County District Attorney’s Office.
