DALLAS—Before deciding whether to cancel classes on Thursday and Friday, North Texas schools are closely monitoring the forecast.
Many families may be asking why school districts haven’t decided to close schools immediately, especially when the weather forecast predicts several inches of snow in the Metroplex.

Richardson ISD
Because projections are known to alter, Superintendent Tabitha Branum stated that her district is similarly delaying making a decision.
According to her, the district’s main consideration when determining whether to close schools is safety.
For instance, one of the difficulties for Thursday is that, if there is no bad weather forecast, our employees and kids might be able to make it to school in the morning.
