DESOTO, Texas:Two people perished in a DeSoto house fire after firefighters failed to save them.
What We Know
Around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, cell phone footage captured flames emanating from a house on Canyon Ridge Drive in DeSoto. According to officials, two persons died in the fire.
For over ten years, Shelia Gaines has resided across the street from the house.
Occasionally, my husband would come over and assist them. It’s very depressing,” she remarked.
According to Gaines, it was occupied by an elderly couple.
She stated, “The wife was bedridden,” “She had fallen and couldn’t get up on one occasion, and my husband went over and helped get her situated in the house.”
Officials arrived at the scene to discover considerable damage and intense flames, making the house unsafe to enter.
The DeSoto Fire Department reports that a house fire in DeSoto on Tuesday afternoon claimed the lives of two people.
Eventually, the fire was contained, and no other houses suffered any damage. Firefighters quickly learned, however, that two people had perished inside the house.
Gaines claims that dealing with any loss is difficult. She claims, however, that she is praying for the victim’s son and his family throughout the holiday season.
“They were on the front lawn last night. “The entire community came together to support the family,” she said. It’s simply depressing. It is even more disappointing and depressing because we recently suffered a loss. God’s help is sought by the family.
What We Don t Know
While investigators haven t said what they believed caused the fire, Gaines said her husband saw flames in the back of the home.
“They attempted to enter the residence. The house’s back was where the fire was. She remarked, “It was really hot.” “My husband stood on the porch and couldn’t go inside the house because the flames were so hot.”
The victims are still unidentified by the medical examiner’s office.
