WYLIE, TexasFollowing an unplanned delivery on the side of the road, a family in North Texas is enjoying the birth of their new baby daughter.

The Story: According to Jennifer McDonald, she called her husband, Drew, when she started having contractions.

He didn’t come home because his wife had gone into fake labor earlier in the week.

Jennifer gave another call two hours later.

“She was like, hey, you need to get home,” McDonald said. “I came in the door and I saw her in labor and I knew we had to get in the truck right away.”

The baby had other ideas, so the couple started driving to the hospital via Parker Road.

“She looks over at me, and she’s like, this baby’s coming,” McDonald stated. “I look over, and I see the baby’s head coming out, and I am freaking out.”

When Drew heard his wife giving delivery on the side of Parker Road in Wylie, he dialed 911.

“Next thing I see, the baby is in the seat and Jennifer picks up the baby, and we hear her cry, which was the greatest sound ever,” Drew McDonald recalled.

“It was very scary, but as soon as Valerie was born, and I heard her cry and breathe, that just brought all of the fears just to the side,” Jennifer McDonald said.

Jennifer and infant Valerie were transported to the hospital by paramedics.

Despite the fact that it was unexpected, McDonald’s says they are thankful that everything went smoothly.

“The way that God orchestrated everything was simply astounding. McDonald remarked, “It was a miracle.”
