Jones, the vice chair of the Texas LGBTQ Caucus and the whip for the Texas House Democratic Caucus, fell to one knee on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives shortly after taking office.
In the video, you can hear Gregory Scott Jr., Jones’ partner, exclaim, “Yes!” before there is a round of applause.
His proposal, according to Jones, demonstrates his resolve to “fight for a world where love is celebrated.”

Parts of South Dallas, West Dallas, East Dallas, Buckner Terrace, Victory Park, and Oak Cliff are all included in District 100, which Jones represents.
