Texas’s Fort WorthThe mother of three former students sent a new kidney as a gift to a choir teacher in Texas.
Midland resident Craig Griffith announced on social media that he required surgery due to kidney failure.
Weslyn Standard, a Midland native, noticed the job posting and felt compelled to assist the man she had become close to over the years of attending events and chaperoning choir excursions. Her three children were schooled by Griffith.
On December 10, they had a successful surgery at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
Standard remembers that just before the procedure, Griffith visited her.
She sobbed as she said, “He came in to pray,” “It’s strange that Craig and I clicked so fast because I was just the room parent who went on all the excursions and things, and he was just my kids’ choir teacher. However, we have a very strong faith,” she remarked.
That is roughly the best way to show someone you love them without conditions. To express my willingness to have this procedure and donate a portion of my body to you in order to offer you a longer and better life because I care about you and your health,” Griffith added.
According to Standard, she believes that her acts will encourage people to think about giving a living kidney to a person in need.
According to Griffith, he intends to maintain contact with Standard throughout his lifetime.
