Tarrant County man’s Christmas display lights up for a good cause

At his property in Dalworthington Gardens, Arlington, a man has put together a Christmas light show with more than 500,000 lights in remembrance of his mother, who died of Alzheimer’s.

Texas’s Dalworthington GardensAt his Dalworthington Gardens house, a Tarrant Countyman has erected a Christmas light show with more than 500,000 lights in remembrance of his mother, who died of Alzheimer’s.

For almost 25 years, people from all over the world have been drawn to David Kulesz’s Christmas light display.

He claims that he began with about 39,000 lights in his early years and has now expanded the display to 500,000.

“We didn’t have outdoor Christmas lights when I was growing up, but I suddenly become convinced that they would be fantastic for some reason. Because I could afford it, I simply began adding more and more each year,” Kulesz said.

A sign at the house with a QR code requesting donations to the Alzheimer’s Association’s North Central Texas Chapter will be visible to guests.

The show is David’s way of paying tribute to his mother, Marguerite, who passed away from the illness in 2000. Despite her diagnosis, David’s mother loved to watch Christmas lights.

The fact that I’m contributing to the community and raising money for Alzheimer’s does make me feel good. All it does is make me and everyone else feel wonderful. “You should do that during the Christmas season,” Kulesz remarked.

The exhibit is located in Dalworthington Gardens at 2 Rushing Meadow Court.
