GARLAND, Texas:A woman was given a 40-year prison sentence for robbing a Mesquite man she met online and killing him.
In 2023, Arturo Pena passed away. His family had reported him missing, and his death was discovered in a car in a Garland park.
Even if his case has received some justice, there is still one suspect whose precise location is still unknown.
Online connection turns deadly
The backstory
Pena first connected with Natalie Navarro, then 17 years old, via social media in 2023.
Later, Pena assumed they were going on a date when they met in Audubon Park in Garland, but he was unaware that Navarro had brought her lover, Yordy Martnez, to rob him.
Martinez is accused of shooting and killing Pena during the heist.
A 17-year-old girl is being held in the Dallas County jail on suspicion of killing a man in Garland. Her alleged accomplice is still being sought by police. Paige Ellenberger of FOX 4 discusses the case’s current state of investigation.

His family even engaged a private detective after reporting the 21-year-old missing on August 27, 2023, without knowing exactly what had transpired.
His disappearance was attributed to Navarro and Martinez, according to internet rumors.
When Pena’s relatives saw the couple, they phoned Mesquite police. Officers can be seen arresting Martinez on cell phone footage.
Martinez and Navarro, however, were freed due to a lack of proof. An unidentified citation was awarded to one of them.

Subject of AMBER Alert now indicted on capital murder charge in Garland killing
After being the focus of an AMBER Alert, a 17-year-old girl has now been charged with capital murder. Investigators think she scheduled a rendezvous with Arturo Pena, age 21, with the intention of robbing him.
While Navarro and Martinez were evading capture, Garland police discovered Pena’s body in his car at the park the following day.
On August 31, 2023, Navarro’s family reported her missing, prompting the issuance of an Amber Alert. According to investigators, it might have been an attempt to mislead them.
The following day, Navarro was located close to the Mexican border and returned to Dallas County.
Navarro pleaded guilty to murder and was given a 40-year jail sentence this month.

Martinez has a capital murder warrant out for his arrest, but Garland police have not been able to locate him.
Since they think he probably went to Mexico, the U.S. Marshals are assisting in the search.

According to Lizbeth Pena, she thought of her cousin like a big brother.
“I try not to think about it too much because it angers us,” she stated.
Lizbeth and her family hope Martinez will be apprehended and held accountable for the death of their loved one. They take comfort in the knowledge that the woman who set Pena up is going to prison till then.
“I m at peace knowing that it will be taken care of,” she stated.
