However, the Idaho Senate must confirm the appointment.

Adams was Little’s budget chief before he was appointed head of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Adams has also held the positions of interim director of the Idaho Charter School Commission and executive director of the Idaho Board of Pharmacy.

On Monday, Senator Scott Grow, a Republican from Eagle, addressed on the Senate floor in support of Adams’ candidacy.

Adams, according to Grow, offers the director’s office a combination of financial savvy and industry knowledge. Grow, for instance, stated that Adams’ background as Little’s budget director will assist him in managing the state’s largest budget, which is around $5 billion for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Grow stated on Monday that he has a great deal of expertise, is undoubtedly knowledgeable about the finances and figures, and is currently performing admirably in managing the Department of Health and Welfare.

The Idaho Senate confirmed Adams by a unanimous voice vote following Grow’s comments.

Adams takes over for Dave Jeppesen, the former director of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, who retired in December 2023.

Dean Cameron, director of the Idaho Department of Insurance, had been acting director of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in between Jeppesen and Adams.
