Shocking Video Captures Home Aide Abusing 95-Year-Old Woman in NYC!

In a shocking incident, a home health care aide has been caught on video brutally beating a 95-year-old woman she was supposed to care for in Harlem, New York City. The disturbing footage, recorded by Nest and Ring cameras, shows the aide, employed by Medflyt at Home Health Care Agency, violently attacking beloved grandmother Dorothy Foye, who was helpless and in need of assistance.

The video reveals a heart-wrenching scene where Foye, a frail elderly woman with limited mobility, is struck multiple times by the caregiver. At one point, the aide even uses a pot as a weapon. The footage shows Foye falling to the ground, struggling to keep her balance with the help of her walker. It’s an image that is not only upsetting but also raises serious questions about the safety and well-being of elderly patients in the care of health aides.

Foye’s granddaughter, Tiffany Mitchell, described the horrifying moment she saw the footage on her phone. “I heard this woman screaming at her, cursing, saying the most obscene things. She was cursing her out,” Mitchell recalled. “She was taking water bottles and juice bottles and cans and throwing them at my grandmother. She was just, like, walking around, tossing things, and then she would disappear.”

Feeling completely helpless, Mitchell expressed her frustration and anger. “I wanted to jump through the camera and beat her,” she said, choking back tears. “I’m screaming, ‘Grandma, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, I’m coming.’”

In the video, Foye can be seen trying to defend herself against the aide. “I was trying to fight back, but, you know, I’m weak. I can’t fight that big woman,” she stated. Despite her frailty, Foye’s spirit shone through as she struggled against the abuse. “She could hardly stand up. She has oxygen in her nose. She’s on a walker. She was trying to keep her balance,” Mitchell explained, describing how her grandmother looked vulnerable and terrified.

The brutal attack occurred on a Sunday, and Foye has since been left with physical and emotional scars. “If I said I feel good, I’d be lying,” she admitted, sharing that she still experiences aches and pains throughout her body, including the inability to lift one of her arms.

Foye had strong words for her former caregiver, expressing a desire for justice. “I would like to beat her myself. Get somebody to beat her like she did me,” she said, highlighting the depth of her pain and anger.

In response to this horrifying event, Foye’s family has taken immediate action by hiring a new aide from a different agency. They have also called for accountability and changes within the Medflyt at Home Health Care Agency, where the abuse took place. The agency has stated that they are conducting an internal investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the New York City police are also looking into the matter, but as of now, no arrests have been made.

This shocking case has ignited a conversation about the safety and treatment of elderly individuals in home care settings. Families rely on caregivers to provide not just assistance but also compassion and respect for their loved ones. When that trust is broken, it leaves lasting impacts on both the victims and their families.

As the investigation continues, Foye’s family is determined to ensure that this kind of abuse does not happen again. They are advocating for stronger regulations and oversight of home healthcare agencies to protect vulnerable patients like Foye. The family hopes that by sharing their story, they can raise awareness about the importance of caring for the elderly and the need for vigilance in monitoring caregivers.
