DallasVolunteers halted their search for 8-year-old Clara Robinson on Thursday due to the rising water and severe rain.
Since her family’s SUV hydroplaned into a drainage ditch on Christmas Eve, the girl has been missing.
More than a month after the collision that killed her father, the group Texas EquuSearch said it will return to Sherman on Friday to resume the hunt for Clara.

The nonprofit is still searching for the corpse of 8-year-old Clara Robinson, also known as CJ, with about 30 volunteers.
Edwards, Mark. The field operations manager with Texas EquuSearch says the search is difficult because of the harsh cold this month and the current rainstorm, which could have moved Clara’s remains further away.
It’s a worry. For that reason alone, we want to launch drones into the air tomorrow when the water begins to fall,” he stated.
The backstory
On Christmas Eve, the Robinson family’s SUV hydroplaned off Highway 75 close to the Texas-Oklahoma line in Sherman. They were traveling from Oklahoma to McKinney to see relatives.
It was dragged to a neighboring creek after colliding with a flooded drainage ditch.
Three sisters and Clara’s mother were able to get away.
In an attempt to save two of his daughters, her father, a high school girls basketball coach in Durant, Oklahoma, lost his life. Two and a half miles downstream from the collision, his body was discovered.
First responders were able to revive Clara’s 5-year-old sister, but they have not been able to locate 8-year-old Clara.

In order to assist the remaining family members, Edwards said volunteers are committed to searches like this one.
The impact it has on families, particularly mothers, is evident. “Moms suffer so much,” he remarked.
According to Edwards, the community is making every effort.
“Every property owner, every ranch owner will stand and tell me that they will do anything they need to do to help me find Clara Robinson,” he stated.
Concerning Texas EquuSearch:
The same group has been implicated in other high-profile searches in Texas, such as the ones for Vanessa Guillenne at Fort Hood, Christina Morris in Collin County, and Maleah Davis close to Houston.
When EquuSearch was first established, it conducted searches using horses. ATVs are now thought to be more efficient by search volunteers. Donations are the only source of funding for the organization.
The Houston-based group claims that neither police enforcement nor family members are ever charged for their assistance.
