Seagoville man killed in hit-and-run crash along Hwy. 175

Texas’ SeagovilleThe hit-and-run driver who killed a 51-year-old Seagoville man on the Highway 175 service road last week is being sought by police.

Seagoville Deadly Crash

We know:

The collision occurred on the westbound service road on Hwy. 175 between the Malloy Bridge Road and Seagoville Road exits last Thursday at approximately 7 p.m.

Jamie Lopez Tinoco, 51, is thought to have stopped on the right side of the service road to inspect the building materials in his truck’s bed, according to investigators.

He was standing behind his truck when he was struck by another car, even though he had his emergency flashers on.

The metal tubing and sheet metal that protruded from Lopez Tinoco’s truck bed caused him to become trapped between the two cars and sustain fatal injuries.

However, when first responders got to the scene of the accident, there was only one other car there.

According to investigators, Katie Kerl and her friend were hit by a car that drove past their parked rideshare car as they were making their way there. They killed Katie. Her friend suffered injuries.

What is unknown to us:

The other car and its driver are still being sought by Seagoville police.

They indicated it probably has serious front-end damage now, but they don’t know the make or model.

Additionally, a trail of fluid that appeared to have spilled from the second vehicle during its escape was discovered by the police.
