The backstory
Just before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a man at an apartment complex on Stone Oak Parkway called police to say he was going to commit suicide. After after, a woman called to report gunfire.
A woman exited the apartment when police arrived, claiming that the suspect—later identified as Brandon Poulos—was shooting inside and was about to emerge.
According to the police, Poulos shot one cop in the leg as he exited the flat.
According to San Antonio police, the suspect’s gunshots ultimately wounded seven cops.
SWAT arrived and attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender with Poulos, according to San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus.
Drones and gas canisters were deployed to try to bring him out of the residence. He shot down many drones, according to the police.
Poulos was discovered dead after the flat had been barricaded for hours.
San Antonio police officers released from hospital
Six cops were discharged from the hospital, according to San Antonio police on Thursday.
While still undergoing treatment at the hospital, one officer is anticipated to make a full recovery.

Given his criminal past, Poulos shouldn’t have been carrying a gun on Wednesday night.
At the time of the incident, Poulos, 46, was free on bond.
Following a report of an assault in progress, the suspect was taken into custody on Saturday, January 19.
According to a preliminary investigation, three witnesses informed investigators that Poulos was drunk when he arrived at the scene, and that a disagreement turned violent.
According to the allegation, an 81-year-old woman was pushed to the ground by Poulos, who then struck her skull. When a 44-year-old lady stepped in, Poulos repeatedly shoved her to the ground and pulled her by her hair.
Poulos also struck an 83-year-old guy many times.
Poulos reportedly fled in a car, wrecked, and was arrested, according to the police.
He was accused of driving under the influence and two counts of assault.
The following day, Poulos was freed on bond and a court ruled that he could not possess any firearms.
What is unknown to us:
