Prosper preschool teacher pleads guilty after toddlers eat THC gummies

PROSPER, TexasAfter four children in her care consumed THC gummies, a former preschool instructor in Prosper received a prison sentence.

Anisah Burks was sentenced a few weeks after entering a guilty plea on December 6.

She received three years in prison for possessing a controlled narcotic and one year for each child hurt.

Prosper preschool teacher arrested

After being exposed to THC in their classroom, four pupils at Primrose School of Prosper are currently in the process of healing. There are also charges against a preschool employee.

The backstory

Burks was taken into custody in November 2022.

According to a town of Prosper spokesperson at the time, four one-year-olds at Prosper’s Primrose School were admitted to the hospital after unexpectedly getting sick in class.

Researchers and medical professionals concluded that THC, the active component in marijuana, was the cause of their unexpected illness.

According to the police, Burks fled as emergency personnel left the school. Later, inside a garment she left behind, they discovered a bag full of THC gummies.

In an arrest warrant affidavit, she later acknowledged taking the edibles into the toddler classroom.

How the children got the edibles was not mentioned in the affidavit.

After allegedly hurting a child, a former daycare provider in the Princeton Independent School District is being charged.

Burks was let go following the incident.

The Texas Department of Family Services Child Care Licensing Division was notified of the event by Primrose School of Prosper, which stated that it was assisting with the inquiry.
