PROSPER, TexasAfter a fire damaged its premises, a food pantry in the town of Prosper, Collin County, is requesting assistance.

Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors Fire

We know:

At the Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors facility, which is located close to the intersection of Hays Road and High Point Drive, a fire broke out on Saturday night.

It began in the establishment next to the food pantry and quickly expanded.

Fortunately, nobody was harmed. The food pantry had to temporarily close, nevertheless, due to the extent of the devastation.

The fire and the chemicals used to extinguish it damaged all the food in the pantry.

What is unknown to us:

The Nourishing Neighbors Neighbors are unsure about how it would provide food for families in the interim and when it will be able to reopen.

Every week, we assist over 300 families. Families in our local area who are food insecure lack a place to provide for their families. Executive Director Robert Daleo stated, “We need to find partners who can provide those people with temporary sustenance.”

It’s also unclear what caused the fire.

Next steps:

The pantry’s managers intend to find a new location to continue operations in the coming weeks and save any equipment they can from their current one.

“Our community has shown incredible support, and we are appreciative of everyone who has stepped up to lend a hand. We are dedicated to our goal of making sure no neighbor goes hungry even as we navigate this difficult scenario,” the organization posted on social media.
