On Saturday, people from North Texas headed to hardware and food stores to buy supplies for the upcoming frigid weather.

Precipitation in the form of wintry mix is also possible.

Dallas’ Elliott’s Hardware shop reports that front-of-house vent covers and space heaters are selling well.

Next week, temperatures will drop below freezing due to a cold front. Dylan Federico, a FOX 4 meteorologist, examines the weather and the likelihood of precipitation or a wintry mix.

Additionally, many are purchasing faucet covers to ensure that pipes are maintained and salt to be ready for any precipitation.

“Today’s been much busier than all the days before,” Elliott’s Hardware manager James Gifford announced. “You definitely want to get it before the freeze, because once it freezes, you have to get out there and not only is it cold, but your stuff s going to be freezing.”

We talked to people in the grocery store who were purchasing goods for comfort food preparation at home, many of whom were purchasing components for crockpot dinners, homemade soups, and chili.

“I m not afraid of the cold, I m more afraid of the pipes bursting and I m afraid of the other people not knowing how to drive, so I m staying home, only going out when necessary,” Laura Garcia, a grocery store customer, said.

In order to avoid going out for whatever reason once the cold weather arrives, they also stocked up on pet food.

“I m not completely empty, but I just want to prepare in case I can t go to the store, or I can t go anywhere, I do have what I need in my closet,” Daniel Albarbarawi said.

People who live in the DFW area are accustomed to this kind of cold weather.

But it’s still crucial to be ready and take it seriously, and today we witnessed many individuals doing just that.
