On Saturday, people from North Texas headed to hardware and food stores to buy supplies for the upcoming frigid weather.
Dallas’ Elliott’s Hardware shop reports that front-of-house vent covers and space heaters are selling well.
Additionally, many are purchasing faucet covers to ensure that pipes are maintained and salt to be ready for any precipitation.
We talked to people in the grocery store who were purchasing goods for comfort food preparation at home, many of whom were purchasing components for crockpot dinners, homemade soups, and chili.
In order to avoid going out for whatever reason once the cold weather arrives, they also stocked up on pet food.
Elliott’s Hardware manager James Gifford stated, “You definitely want to get it before the freeze, because once it freezes, you have to get out there and not only is it cold, but your stuff is going to be freezing.”
According to Elliott’s Hardware, this is the busiest time of the week.
