New York Attorney General Letitia James has unveiled a significant legal action targeting an alleged network involved in trafficking “ghost guns.” These firearms, which lack serial numbers and are often assembled from kits purchased online, pose a serious challenge to law enforcement due to their untraceable nature.
James, a prominent Democrat, disclosed details of the operation in a press release on Wednesday, highlighting the seizure of 86 firearms, including 55 ghost guns and 25 assault weapons. The indictment, comprising 625 counts, focuses on five individuals accused of illegally distributing these firearms in Queens.
According to James, the investigation exposed a sophisticated trafficking operation that exploited loopholes in firearm regulations, particularly sourcing from states with less stringent laws like Indiana.
“This investigation has effectively dismantled a dangerous gun trafficking network, preventing countless potential acts of violence in our communities,” stated James. She emphasized her commitment to combatting illegal gun trade and safeguarding New Yorkers from the perils of gun violence.
The individuals implicated in the case include Satveer Saini, Mateo Castro-Agudelo, Hargeny Fernandez-Gonzalez, Adam Youssef Senhaji-Rivas, and Milanjit Sidhu. Allegations include the purchase and distribution of firearms across Queens, including locations such as a Jackson Heights playground and the Queens Center Mall parking lot.

Key charges against the accused include conspiracy in the fourth degree, criminal sale of a firearm in the first degree, and criminal possession of a firearm in the first degree. If convicted, they face sentences of up to 25 years in prison, reflecting the severity of the charges.
