An officer in the vicinity reported hearing gunfire originating from eastbound I-30, according to Mesquite police.

After witnessing a speeding car leave on Gus Thomasson Road, the officer attempted to reverse course and return to the interstate in the opposite way.

However, according to the authorities, the driver lost control of the car and crashed. At that moment, four men leaped from the car.

The cop ended up shooting multiple times while pursuing one of the criminals on foot. The suspect was taken to the hospital in an unidentified condition after being struck several times.

Other officers subsequently arrested two of the three other suspects. A fourth suspect escaped and remains unaccounted for.

The shooting did not result in any injuries to any cops.

The suspect who was shot did have a pistol, according to Mesquite police, and there were more weapons in the suspect’s car.

An independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting will be carried out by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.
