According to NFL Network analyst Jane Slater, Matt Eberflus, the former head coach of the Chicago Bears, is being considered to be the new defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys.

We know:

Dallas is accustomed to Eberflus. From 2011 until 2017, he worked as a defensive assistant for Jason Garrett’s staff under Rod Marinelli.

After losing to the Detroit Lions 23–20 on Thanksgiving Day, the Bears dismissed Eberfluson on November 29.

Al Harris, a former defensive backs coach for the Dallas Cowboys who was viewed by some as a potential defensive coordinator, accepted a position with the Bears.

During the 2025 season, the Cowboys will play the Bears at Solider Field.

What is unknown to us:

Teams must interview at least two minority applicants for open head coach, general manager, and coordinator positions under the NFL’s Rooney Rule.

We don’t currently know which additional applicants the Cowboys are taking into account.
