DallasOn Friday, a guy from El Salvador who had entered the nation illegally and was wanted for obstruction, sexual assault, and terrorist threats was taken into custody in Mesquite.
When the “Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrant” list was compiled in June 2024, Omar Zavala was included.

On Friday, Omar Zavala was taken into custody in Mesquite.
A number of law enforcement organizations took part in the attempt to apprehend Zavala.
In order to locate and apprehend Zavala, DPS Special Agents assigned to the Special Investigations Section in Garland, the U.S. Marshals Service North Texas Fugitive Task Force, and the Dallas Police Department Drone Unit collaborated with DPS agents assigned to the Texas Anti-Gang center in Houston and members of the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.

The backstory
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Omar Zavala several times in 2014.
The next year, he was expelled from the United States.
Zavala was detained by Houston police in 2020 on charges of obstruction/retaliation and terrorist threats.
In 2022, he was also wanted from Harris County on suspicion of sexual assault, threatening terrorism, and obstruction/retaliation.
