I came here as a teenager seven years ago to play basketball at the top level, which was my ambition. I sincerely wanted to win you a championship since I believed I would spend my entire career here. I could never have imagined the amount of love and support I have received from all of you. You helped North Texas feel like home to a little Slovenian child who was visiting the United States for the first time.
From injuries to the NBA Finals, your support remained constant through good times and bad. I appreciate you supporting me when I needed it most and sharing my happiness during our best times together.
I want to express my gratitude to all of the Dallas-area groups I’ve collaborated with for allowing me to support your vital work and stand with you in bringing attention to those in need. I’m beginning the next phase of my basketball career. One city that will always seem like home is the one I’m leaving.
Mavs supporters are unique, and Dallas is a unique place.
With all of my heart, thank you.
