DallasFans gathered at the American Airlines Center to voice their displeasure with the Dallas Mavericks’ decision to move Luka Don I despite the team’s Sunday game against Cleveland.
To memorialize Don I and express their displeasure with the team’s choice, fans placed shirts, flowers, and signs on the AAC’s steps, close to the location of Dirk Nowitzki’s statue.
While some posters declared they were giving up their fandom, others demanded explanations for the decision to trade Luka.
“I’m sick,” one admirer wrote on a sign.
Near the statue, where someone had scribbled a foul remark to Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison, FOX 4 crews observed teams clearing away graffiti.
What they’re saying:
Mavs supporter Lillian McCall remarked, “It was like waking up to a nightmare,” “We’ve decided to boycott the Mavs. Dallas is Luka.
“This feels like a funeral right now,” Dan Kallab remarked. “We’re not mad, we’re just sad.”
“You were meant to remain here indefinitely, Luka. Luka, you are loved. Miguel Castro, who traveled two hours from Cleburne to be at the AAC, remarked, “My kids were supposed to watch you.”
Finesse Faith remarked, “This is the worst moment of my life,” “That stadium was packed with Luka. Now, who is going to pack that stadium?
“Loyalty never wanes, according to the inscription on Dirk’s statue over there. It seems to be a one-way street as well. “Only the players care about that,” Blake Combs stated. “Loyalty to the organization undoubtedly declined. They failed to fulfill their end of the agreement. Since he was faithful and others weren’t, I suppose the inscription is meaningless.
