North Texas MLK Day Events
Local viewpoint:
The excitement inside Allen was not dampened by the outside temps.
Allen people must carry on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s work, according to Mayor Baine Brooks.
“Everyone can be great because everyone can serve,” Dr. King once stated. “To create love, all you need is a heart full of soul and grace,” he remarked.
Even though it was in the 20s at the time, over 100 people participated in a 9-minute mark outside in Denton to honor Dr. King’s legacy.

MLK Day 2025: Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Service in Atlanta
A customary ceremony will be held locally in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which is observed nationwide. You may watch the 2025 MLK Day Beloved Community Commemorative Service live from home starting at 9 a.m. on Monday.
What they’re saying:
“It’s okay, although it’s quite cold. Cleveland Whiteside stated, “It’s a good occasion.”
Zoey Nelson continued, “I think you should be fine as long as you bundle up properly.”
The number of young people taking part in the march, according to the mayor of Denton, motivated him.
“It’s fantastic if the audience is older, but maintaining that enthusiasm might be difficult. Correct? It is quite labor-intensive. It is really motivating for me as mayor to see a younger audience thus involved. And eventually, it’s anticipating the city of Denton’s expansion,” Mayor Gerald Hudspeth stated.
“Being out here because of what MLK stood for was definitely worth it. And it means everything if we can embrace that. Being in college is undoubtedly a blessing for us. It’s a blessing to be out here, Kameron Duckens continued, “just to be able to fulfill the promise he made.”
It is crucial to depict history so that it is remembered and that we do not lose sight of our origins. It’s quite significant. Regardless of how chilly it is, we cannot ignore that. We should pay them back since they battled for our current freedom,” Victoria Tucker stated.
