IR: Sydney Lawrence, who lives in Irving, is having a very memorable Christmas. On Christmas Eve, she finally had the opportunity to see her biological father after years of searching for him.

A Dallas woman adopted Lawrence as a baby after he was born at a hospital in Temple, Texas.

Because it was a closed adoption, her birth parents’ records were kept confidential.

Nearly forty years later, on Christmas Eve, Lawrence and Terry Travis, her biological father, met at her Irving home.

“I was crying as I left that hospital that day. The story is depressing. But as you can see, I found my daughter, so it’s a great story. “And she discovered me,” Travis remarked.

Lawrence used Adoption.com to find Travis, but it took years.

Lawrence’s biological sisters contacted her via the website last month.

Following a social media search, Lawrence found Travis, who last week took a plane from Georgia to North Texas.

He said that he could not afford to miss any more birthdays or holidays.

Each of these 39 birthday cards represents a day that I missed. They are out of date. I drew on a few. I put my signature there. Poetry, anything to express my love for my baby. And if it’s okay with you, I’d want to gift it to her,” he continued.

Years of wondering and waiting are symbolized by those priceless cards.

“The same way my father was. Did he survive? Every year, I thought that. Like, what’s he doing, and where is he?” Lawrence asked.

She is no longer required to ask those questions.

Additionally, her six kids can now spend Christmas morning with their old man.

“This Christmas to me is special because not only do I have a dad, I feel complete now,” she stated.

“On Christmas, I received a daughter. There isn’t much better than that. Who would have guessed? Holidays and thirty-nine years of waiting. “Wow!” “Well,” said Travis.

He and his daughter and grandchildren will be in North Texas for the next two weeks.

They will travel to Georgia to celebrate Christmas next year.
