Idaho Gov. Brad Little signs statement backing Trump immigration and deportation policies

Brad Little, the governor of Idaho, revealed late Wednesday that he and 25 other Republican governors have signed a public declaration endorsing President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration and deportation plans.

As part of his commitment to deport a record number of undocumented immigrants in the United States, Trump has pledged to take executive actions to strengthen immigration enforcement starting on his first day in office. According to Reuters, these measures include resuming construction of the border wall, boosting American troops at the U.S. border with Mexico, and granting federal immigration authorities the authority to make arrests of individuals who have no criminal history.

Little and the other Republican governors declared in a public declaration this week that they are totally committed to helping the Trump administration remove dangerous offenders.

According to a copy from Little’s office, the statement said, “As Republican governors, we stand united in support of President Donald Trump’s unwavering commitment to make America safe again by addressing the illegal immigration crisis and deporting illegal immigrants who pose a threat to our communities and national security.”

“As a leader who has always prioritized America, we are honored to welcome President Trump back to the White House,” the statement added. We are excited to collaborate with his Administration to address the pressing issues confronting our country, and his leadership is just what we need to restore law and order at the border.

Republican governors are prepared to assist Trump’s deportation plans with the help of the National Guard and state law enforcement.

Emily Callihan, Little’s communications director, told the Idaho Capital Sun on Thursday that the message is not a signed letter to Trump but rather a written statement sent to the public and news media.

The statement went on to say that Republican governors are still totally committed to helping the Trump administration remove terrorists, gang members, and dangerous criminals who are illegally in the nation. We will do everything in our power to help remove these criminal illegal aliens from our communities because we recognize the direct threat they pose to public safety and our national security.

The statement went on to say that we will work together to protect the American people, enforce the law, and make sure our country is safe and secure for coming generations. We are prepared to back President Trump in this crucial task by using every available instrument, including the National Guard and state law enforcement.

“Now is the time to act,” the statement said. We will work together to restore America’s safety.
