DALLAS—New Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer says he called his mother and wife as soon as he received the job offer.
Jerry Jones broke the news to his mother and wife while Brian called them.

When Gemmi Schottenheimer learned that her husband will be the next head coach of the Cowboys, she told FOX 4.
“I said hello when he called. “Hey, baby,” he said. Someone I know wants to speak with you. And on the phone were Stephen and Jerry. In fact, he told me the news without even speaking to me. She remembered that Jerry did. “After exiting his truck, I said, Oh my god! My goodness! I had no one with whom to converse. Even though I was alone, it was truly unique.
A dream come true
While working for his father, Marty, who was coaching the Washington Redskins (who would later change their name to the Washington Commanders in 2022), Gemmi got to know Brian.
“Brian always referred to Marty as coach in the office,” she stated. “He was very professional and never asked to be treated differently. Nevertheless, Dad was present at the dining table.
According to Gemmi, Brian kept a notecard from his time playing collegiate football in his wallet.

According to Patricia Schottenheimer, Brian’s mother, he started preparing for this day when he was a young boy.
“They had the projectors with the plays and the tapes when Marty was coaching. And my children would see plays on the projector as they sat in Marty’s office. His ages were 7, 8, and 9. “He’s designed for this,” she remarked. “Brian assured me that he would win a Super Bowl for his father. Daddy never had one. For us, I’m getting one. For him, that is.
According to Patricia and Gemmi, they are quite proud of Brian and his new position.
