GRAPEVINE, Texas:Charges have been brought against a Grapevine pastor, volunteer, and substitute teacher who was reportedly found in possession of child pornography and concealed cameras.

According to Grapevine police, 38-year-old Arturo Alarcon, an associate pastor of 121 Community Church, installed spy cameras inside a nearby mobile home park trailer that the church utilizes as a makeshift lodging option for families that come to visit.

According to Grapevine Police Spokesperson Amanda McNew, “the person who planted those cameras knew what they were, and they were put there on purpose.” “Families would visit the house since he was the preacher. He was able to access it using the codes.

The cameras were discovered by a missionary couple who were staying at the house.

An arrest warrant states that the man found that an alarm clock had taken a memory card after hearing a clicking sound. Then he saw the camera. Soon after, the church called the police.

“Through that investigation, detectives uncovered a downloaded photo of child pornography,” McNew stated.

An arrest warrant stated that the child porn discovered on Alarcon’s phone had nothing to do with the surveillance cameras. Although it’s unknown if other crimes are suspected, police say there isn’t any evidence to support that at this time.

“We re going to keep looking, but we haven t found anything else at all,” McNew stated.

121 Community Church said in a statement to FOX 4 that when Alarcon reported the incident to the police, it put him on leave. After being detained, he was later dismissed.

According to the Grapevine Police Department, there is no proof of any further offenses and the investigation is still underway. The church stated, “We have communicated with the Grapevine Police Department and are still assisting with the inquiry. “We currently have no indication from law enforcement or any other source that local children were involved with the alleged conduct.”

The door of Alarcon’s trailer, which is only two streets from the trailer where he reportedly placed spy cameras, was unanswered on Friday.

Because of his involvement with the local church and the Grapevine Community Outreach Center, which was a division of the Grapevine Police Department, Alarcon was well-known in the neighborhood.

Since March 2022, Alarcon has also worked as a substitute teacher for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.

He filled in as a substitute at Timberline Elementary School four times between 2022 and 2024, according to GCISD. Since then, his subordinate position has been revoked.

The 53-year-old admitted to sexually abusing four children. Police were informed by the teenage victims from the church that he would frequently have intercourse with them while they were staying at his residence or going on overnight excursions.

“The district remains in close contact with the Grapevine Police Department and will provide more information to our community if any evidence reveals any additional connection to the school district,” the district stated in a letter to parents.

“It’s terrifying for parents,” McNew remarked. “It s scary for the community because there s so much unknown.”

According to grapevine police, Alarcon is not assisting investigators. On suspicion of possessing child pornography and invasive visual recording, he is free on a $15,000 bond.
