Funeral home van carrying two bodies stranded in North Texas floodwaters

Texas’s White Rock LakeOvernight, storms triggered significant flooding in North Texas, leaving a funeral company van carrying two bodies stuck in high waters.

We know:

Around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to the scene of a minivan that was stranded in high water at Goforth Drive and Eagle Trail, close to White Rock Lake.

The caller informed authorities that when the car crashed into floodwaters overnight, it became unusable.



Emergency personnel discovered water up to the van’s windows when they got there. The driver and a passenger were safely rescued by first responders, but the two bodies inside were left behind.

Crews were able to walk to the vehicle, connect a tow cable, and drag it to dry land when the water subsided. After that, the bodies were moved to a different car.

Around 5:30 a.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue cleared the area.

No more information on the occurrence has been made public.
