Texas’s Cedar HillTo honor fallen Terrell police officer Jacob Candanoza, dozens of family members, friends, and blue-clad siblings turned out on Sunday night.
One week after Candanoza was killed while performing his duty, his father’s roller skating rink is the site of the vigil.

Jacob’s father, David Candanoza, claims to have read every handwritten letter, post, and comment regarding his son over the past week.
“It makes me laugh. Every day I get choked up. Candanoza remarked, “Every second just reading all these things and people coming by.”
After stopping a pickup truck in the parking area of the Super 8 Motel in Terrell, Officer Candanoza was shot and murdered, according to the police.
After the shooting, Darrian Cortez Johnson, the driver, fled, but he was apprehended a few hours later close to the border between Kaufman and Van Zandt counties.

According to the police, the officer phoned for help after stopping a truck from Mississippi with expired license plates. However, he was shot several times at close range before help arrived.
According to David Candanoza, the community’s support has been tremendous.
“It s just crazy, crazy, I would never expect anything like this,” added the man.
Officer Cooper Dawson will be remembered as a husband, father, and cherished public servant. He was a proud veteran of the military as well.
The Terrell Police Department honored the dead officer during a vigil on Wednesday.
For those in Cedar Hill who were unable to attend, his father wanted to do something.
Candanoza remarked, “I just can’t thank people enough, I’m so thankful.”
The assistance for Candanoza’s wife and daughter is still ongoing.
Toys for the small child to open at Christmas are being gathered and donated by others.
“You don t expect that, you don t expect that from people I don t even know,” said Candanoza.
According to David Candanoza, his kid was a legend at his Cedar Hill rink.
It was considered a badge of honor to tag Jacob. Hello, Jacob was tagged! It wasn’t simple,” he recalled. “He really was just a class act.”
Officer Candanoza would have turned 29 on Saturday.
According to his father, family members gathered at his grandmother’s home to pay tribute to him.
The funeral service for Officer Candanoza will take place at Rockwall’s Lake Point Church on Tuesday.
