Overnight, those counties were under a flash flood warning. Things are now drying out because they have since expired.

Jan. 29 Record Rainfall Total

Based on the figures:

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport set a new daily record for January 29 with 2.8 inches of rain just before midnight on Wednesday.

The total increased to 4.13 inches by Thursday, almost an inch and a half more than it was at midnight.

As of right moment, January’s total rainfall is 5.69 inches.

Flash Flooding

There were reports of high water in several locations throughout the metroplex, including the vicinity of White Rock Lake.

Around three in the morning, Dallas Fire-Rescue was dispatched to Goforth Drive and Eagle Trail when a funeral home minivan became trapped in flooded waters.

Emergency personnel discovered water up to the van’s windows when they got there. The driver and a passenger were safely rescued by first responders, but the two bodies inside were left behind.

While still transporting two remains, a funeral company van became stuck in the rising floodwaters close to White Rock Lake.

Crews were able to walk to the vehicle, connect a tow cable, and drag it to dry land when the water subsided. After that, the bodies were moved to a different car.

7-Day Forecast

By noon, the rain should stop, and the sky will progressively clear from west to east. With highs in the mid- to upper-sixties, North Texas will experience partly to mostly sunny skies during the afternoon.

Before a warmer trend takes hold, Friday’s temperatures will stay in the mid-60s. Saturday highs will be in the low 70s, Sunday highs will be in the mid-70s, and by Monday midday, they may even be close to 80 degrees.

By Tuesday, a cooling down is anticipated.
