DallasAfter hundreds of flights were canceled and delayed on Friday due to bad weather, travelers at DFW Airport are crossing their fingers.
On Thursday, heavy weather and storms forced a ground stop at Dallas Love Field and DFW Airport.
Based on the numbers:Flight Aware, a service that tracks flights, reports that Dallas-Fort Worth had the most cancellations (264) and delays (580) nationwide.
From December 20 to January 7, 4.7 million travelers are expected to transit through DFW Airport. It is 2.4% higher than the previous year.
What They’re Saying: Joey Walsh intended to celebrate Chinese New Year with his extended family in China, accompanied by his wife and two little children.
He missed his subsequent flight in Korea when the weather forced their trip to be rescheduled from Thursday to Friday.
The issue is that there is only one weekly flight from Korea to the region of China they are visiting.
“I don’t mind if weather-related delays occur on domestic flights, but not on international ones. This is the first time I’ve ever experienced it. I’ve taken between thirty and forty flights to China. That has never happened to me,” Walsh remarked. “We’re attempting to maximize it. I mean, we were like, “Oh, well, we’ll just accept it,” after a few hours yesterday.
What You Can Do: To provide time for parking, check-in, and security checks, DFW Airport advises arriving at least two hours before to domestic flights and three hours prior to international flights.
Additionally, they advise downloading the DFW smartphone app to check wait times, reserve parking in advance, and more.
