According to the city of Ennis, water pressure has been correctly restored and all but one water main break has been remedied.
Around 6 p.m. on Monday, the city sent out water samples, and they anticipate knowing within a day whether the water is safe to drink once more.
Until then, EnnisISD has canceled classes for the second day in a row. This is because the district has issued a boil water advisory.
On Saturday evening, an eight-inch water main ruptured at the junction of Highway 34 and I-45. In Ennis, that break set off a series of others.
A water problem caused by seven leaks last night is being worked to fix. Ennis has canceled classes today, and police will give out more than 76,000 water bottles to locals.
According to the city, there were seven water main breaches in all. As of Monday evening, all but one had been corrected.
To isolate the leak on I-45, one water tower had to be turned off, while the other leaks prevented the second from being filled.
Residents of Ennis are encouraged to boil their water before using it until the lab results are in.
At Fire Station No. 1, located at 1700 West Lake Bardwell Drive, bottled water is being distributed. Water will be distributed till Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Boil Water Notice
Boil your tap water before using it if you can’t find commercially bottled water. Boiling eliminates potentially harmful bacteria from tap water. Bring water to a rolling boil for one minute to destroy germs. Before using boiled water, let it cool to prevent burns. NOTE: If your tap water has passed through a home water filter or a water-filtering pitcher, you will still need to boil it.
Do not use water or ice from your fridge
Avoid drinking or using water from appliances that are connected to your water line during any kind of drinking water alert. This covers the ice and water dispensers in your freezer or refrigerator.

Brushing teeth
Use either commercially bottled water or boiling water to brush your teeth. Never use tap water that hasn’t been boiled.
Washing dishes
When a boil water advisory is in effect, try to utilize disposable plates, glasses, and utensils.Clean every infant bottle.
If a dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle or reaches a final rinse temperature of at least 150 F (66 C), it is usually safe to use.
When washing dishes by hand, use hot water to rinse and wash them as you normally would. For every gallon of warm water in a different basin, add 1 teaspoon of unscented home liquid bleach. After washing, soak the dishes in water for a minimum of one minute. Before using the dishes again, let them air dry fully.
Laundry
Clothes can be washed normally.
