Dallas weather: Winter storm warning, snow timing and how much to expect

The Dallas-Fort Worth region is currently under a North Texas-AWinter Storm Warning. Our neighborhood has already seen a significant amount of snowfall on Thursday, and it will continue into Friday and into the night.

Today’s forecast:

There has already been a lot of snow, sleet, and rain in certain areas of North Texas, but not much in others. By Thursday evening, the majority of it will turn to snow.

It is anticipated that the most intense snowfall would start after dark and last into midnight. Beginning at 8 p.m., several hours of moderate snowfall are anticipated in the early evening. The majority of the snowfall should end by Friday morning.

The snowfall is heaviest in the northernmost counties. Four to six inches of snow have already fallen on Bonham, Celina, and McKinney.

Although there hasn’t been as much snowfall in Dallas and the surrounding suburbs, the region may receive three to five inches on Thursday night.

    : Wintry mix continues; roads remain wet.


  • 6 p.m.

    : Transition to mostly snow begins.


  • 9 p.m.

    : Full snowfall with temperatures below freezing.


  • 12 a.m.

    : Snow continues.

Dallas weather: How much will it snow on Thursday?

On Thursday, we anticipate snowfall in North Texas. This is what we anticipate.

Friday’s conditions:

Although there won’t be any further precipitation on Friday morning, there will probably be icy roads until the temperature rises above freezing between 10 and 11 a.m.

For the Cotton Bowl, it should be okay to travel in the afternoon, but be aware that it might refreeze overnight.

The slush that appears on Friday afternoon will refreeze well into the night and the early hours of Saturday. The roads might get slick once more.
