FOX 4 meteorologists anticipate that northern Dallas-Fort Worth may have 4 to 6 inches of snow later this week, which is an uncommon occurrence.
It is a once-in-a-decade occurrence in the metroplex, with only three snowstorms exceeding 4 inches in the last 45 years.
The three largest snowstorms since 1980 that dumped as much snow as this week’s forecast are listed here.

FOX 4 News
One of the worst weather disasters in Texas history, the 2021 snowfall killed 246 people and left millions without electricity for days.
Due to inadequate preparation, the storm brought roughly 5 inches of snow and ice, making the roadways dangerous. Temperatures in the metroplex dropped as low as -2 degrees, and the wind chill was significantly lower.
More than 72 hours were below 20 degrees, and Dallas-Fort Worth had 129 hours in a row below freezing.
ERCOT power grids failed, leaving millions without electricity in the fatal aftermath of the hurricane, NWS said. The outages were attributed by federal energy regulators to frozen equipment at natural gas facilities and power plants.
