Record Daily Rainfall Total
We know:
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport set a new daily record for January 29 with 2.8 inches of rain just before midnight on Wednesday.
The total increased to 3.91 inches at 5 a.m. Thursday, over an inch higher than at midnight. There have been reports of high water in several locations throughout the metroplex, including the vicinity of White Rock Lake.
Dallas-Fort Worth Flood Warnings
Flood warnings that were first issued on Wednesday night have been expanded and extended by the National Weather Service. The majority of warnings have now been extended from 5 a.m. to noon throughout the metroplex.
Dallas, Tarrant, and portions of Collin counties are still under a flood warning. Although it may end sooner, a more general flood watch is in effect until noon.
Rainfall Totals
Based on the figures:
Between three and five inches of rain have fallen over the majority of the DFW region, and as the storms continue throughout the morning, totals are predicted to increase.
Thursday Afternoon Weather
By noon, the rain should stop, and the sky will progressively clear from west to east. With highs in the mid- to upper-sixties, North Texas will experience partly to mostly sunny skies during the afternoon.
Weekend Forecast
Before a warmer trend takes hold, Friday’s temperatures will stay in the mid-60s. Saturday highs will be in the low 70s, Sunday highs will be in the mid-70s, and by Monday midday, they may even be close to 80 degrees.
By Tuesday, a cooldown is anticipated.
