DALLAS — According to recent rumors, Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively will be sidelined for two to three months due to a foot ailment.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Lively sustained a minor foot fracture.

Since suffering an injury during the Mavericks’ January 14 loss to the Denver Nuggets, Lively has missed the last three games.

Anchoring the Mavericks defense, the second-year center has averaged 9.1 points and 7.8 rebounds.

What is unknown to us:

It will be some time before the Mavericks’ roster is fully recovered at this point.

Due to a calf injury, Luka Doncic has missed the last 14 games. In those games, the Mavericks are 4-10.

The team declared on December 27 that Doncic’s condition would be reassessed in a month.

Right now, the Mavericks (23–20) are ranked eighth in the Western Conference.

When the Mavericks play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, they will be shorthanded.
