Dallas County Sheriff’s Office responded to 62 accidents Thursday into Friday

Numerous collisions occurred on Dallas County roads Thursday into Friday as a result of the winter weather.

DALLAS—During and right after Thursday’s snow storm, deputies from the Dallas County sheriff’s office responded to scores of auto accidents.

Although Friday’s roads cleared up during the day, there’s a risk they can freeze again overnight.

Dallas County Crashes

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, between Thursday at 5 a.m. and Friday at 9 a.m., they responded to 62 accidents.

Of those accidents, 27 were classified as “major,” and 35 as “minor.”

It looks like there were a lot less vehicles on the road on Friday than normal.

On a normal January day, Dallas reported half as many accidents.

The first round of ice, snow, and sleet fell on Thursday.

Another small layer of snow fell overnight, but it was insufficient to significantly alter the situation in Dallas.

Dallas Public Works wants drivers to be aware that roads may freeze over again late Friday night, and they will be working all day to clear trouble spots.
