DALLAS—As concerns surround his contract, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expressing support for head coach Mike McCarthy.

On Tuesday, Prescott told Yahoo Sports that he thinks Coach McCarthy would be more than content if he missed the upcoming campaign.

According to the quarterback, McCarthy merits a new contract.

Prescott said that McCarthy would benefit from having more control over the team’s progress.

McCarthy, however, claimed he has a lot of supporters.

“I believe that this particular work is similar to all others. I mean, I knew exactly what the responsibilities were. As a head coach, this is the most personnel-related input I’ve ever participated in, especially in the draft,” he stated. I don’t know exactly what he meant when he said that. However, I believe it’s no different than anything else. We’re in the fifth year of our program, you know. We have a lot of great stuff in place, I believe. Well, I believe we can improve on a few areas. And I believe that’s all a part of maturing, you know.”

On Monday in Arlington, the Cowboys play Cincinnati at AT&T Stadium.
